Today, and single small event occurred that ended up being the proverbial butterfly's wings that started a hurricane in my own little mind.
Today, I received a "Letter" From the Republican National Committee...
Imagine my shock when I open my post office box and discover a letter from Mrs. Susan Gazdo, Membership Director of the Republican National Committee! Thoughts began rushing through my head that almost brought a tear of joy to my eye.
- Would this be the letter I've long been waiting for that details the RNC's plans to return to TRUE CONSERVATIVE VALUES?
- Could it be that all the times I told the Telemarketers calling from the RNC that they MIGHT get a check from me if the Republican Party started actually representing us Conservatives?
- Could it be that the Republican Party was going to make a stand on Illegal Immigration?
- Was President Bush going to retract all the statements about CRIMINAL IMMIGRANTS being important to our country?
- Could I count on Next year's budget not Breaking the THREE TRILLION DOLLAR mark?
Alas, my joy and hope was dashed upon the rocks on the shores of despair when I read the Following:
Dear Mr. Kozlowski,
I don't want to believe you've abandoned the Republican Party, but I have to ask... Have you given up?
Our records show we have not yet received your 2006 Republican National Committee Membership Contribution.
As the membership director of the RNC, I know our Party's success depends directly on grassroots leaders like you.
So I am surprised and concerned because I know how generously you have helped our party in the past.
I know other things come up, and perhaps you've just been delayed in sending your Republican Party membership Contribution.
Mr. Kozlowski, President Bush and our candidates are counting on republican leaders like you to help win the tough elections ahead.
Your support is important. The 2006 elections present our party with the opportunity to strengthen our majorities in congress and increase out numbers at the state and local levels.
That's why your 2006 RNC membership renewal contribution of $25, $38 or even $50 is urgently needed to give President Bush and give Republican candidates the resources they need to run effective campaigns and win.
The men and women representing us in the 2006 elections are hard at work building strong campaigns.
And so is the RNC. We are doing our part to provide the research, staff support, voter registration, volunteer recruitment and training, Advertising and direct financial assistance our candidates urgently need.
If the Democrats regain complete control of Congress this year, they will roll back all the gains we have made --- and obstruct the remainder of President Bush's bold second term agenda.
We MUST not let that happen!
If we stand together, we can win in 2006. Our message of lower taxes, fiscal responsibility and commonsense reform wins elections.
But we need your help to get our message out so we can bypass the liberal media filter with our own public outreach and communications. It's crucial we answer the relentless negative attacks of the Democrats and their army of left-wing allies with facts.
So if you have delayed in renewing your membership because the RNC has let you down, please let me know . I need to hear from you.
But please don't turn your back on President Bush and Republican candidates who are counting on your help.
Just include your comments and suggestions with the enclosed membership confirmation and return them with your 2006 membership renewal check. You can also renew via the Internet.
Please don't quit now! renew your RNC membership today. Thank you.
P.s. The 2006 elections are critical to the future of our nation. We need the support of every Republican to provide the resources President Bush and our candidates at all levels need to defeat the liberal Democrats and fully enact our agenda. Please don't give up now. Please renew your RNC membership today. Thank you.
So, taken back as I was by this show of concern (form letter) for my continued participation in the Party as I was, I decided that it might be a good idea to sit right down and write a check, and a letter expressing my concerns. I sat right down and immediately wrote a $500 check.
Yes, a $500 check.
But then, being the fiscal conservative that I am, I thought it might be a good idea to log into my bank account and see just how much money I had in there to spend on my immediate donation to the RNC.
I'm very ashamed to say that I stumbled upon the knowledge that I had a significantly less than a $500 balance due to the fact that I had just put gas in my car for the week.
So what am I to do?
Well, I wrote VOID in big Black letters across the face of the check, used a Sharpie to mark out the Routing numbers, and wrote "This check is void! No soup for you!" and I put "Whenever you start being conservatives" in the date area and changed the denomination to Pesos.
I then sat down and composed this letter to Mrs. Gazdo:
Dearest Susan Gazdo,
To be quite frank and honest with you, I have given up on the Republican National Committee, President Bush, and the Republican Majorities in the House and Senate. While I appreciate your concern regarding my current and future participation in the RNC, I hope that you can understand my concerns for the future of the Republican Party.
President Bush's approval rating are floating around 35% or so, and the approval ratings for Congress is even worse. Have you ever thought of exactly why that is? It's because mainstream "Reagan Republicans" such as myself are completely and totally disgusted with the direction, leadership, and stands that the Republican Party has made in recent times:The RNC and the President are Pro Illegal Immigration. Yes, I said it. The President won't even refer to the problem as Illegal Immigration anymore.
Here's a question for you. What happens when Bill Frist and Teddy Kennedy agree on something? The answer is: Nothing good.
The Currently backed plan for a "path to citizenship" is nothing more than pandering to the Latino voting block and a political move to try and secure the future votes of these "new citizens" so you can stay in power. Never mind the fact that as new citizens of the United States of America, these 13 (or so) million illegal immigrants can IMMEDIATELY arrange for their entire families to come to America and further tax our job markets, schools and social programs.
Isn't that the kind of thing that those of us who backed the "Contract with America" and ushered in the first Republican majority in DECADES were voting against? The bottom line is that the President's plan, and that of the Republican Leadership, is DANGEROUS to America and serves to create yet another block of government dependent voters who you can buy year after year with promises of amnesty and more government handouts. Sounds like Liberal policies at work there.
The Republican Leadership and President Bush are spending like a drunk Teddy Kennedy with a Platinum Visa Card in a Liquor store. We've got the LARGEST budget EVER. $2.8 Trillion dollars with almost half of that being government hand-outs and Income Re-distribution Schemes. Pork Barrel projects and completely inefficient government as far as the eye can see.
Let's not forget the Social Security debacle. A lot of talk and ruffling of feathers, but in the end the program continues to steal from future generations to fulfill a LIBERAL promise that is failing every day we do nothing. So I get to pay into a system that will be non-existent by the time it's my turn to suckle at the government's teat.
And then we've got the fact that we have Muslims protesting in the streets of New York City chanting "Wrath of Allah is on the way! The Mushroom Cloud is on the way! The REAL Holocaust is on the way!" and Illegal Immigrants marching in the streets, with NO FEAR OF DEPORTATION, waving Mexican Flags and talking (in Spanish) about reclaiming the Southwest as their own rightful lands.
Then we have the completely and totally inept leadership of the party in Congress that has, time and again, failed to do much of anything. The Republican Party holds both the House and the Senate, as well as the White House, and yet we still can't get the budget SHRINKING, make the tax cuts permanent, put a halt to the national security problem that is our southern border, find Osama Bin Laden, reform social security, come up with meaningful and long term tax reforms, put an end to corrupt government seizure of private property, or even find ways to use our own natural resources and instead rely on resources from the most volatile region on this planet today.
Instead, we're attempting to allow a Muslim country to operate terminals in our largest ports, and allowing the Chinese Communists to scan all cargo entering the USA for Radiological weaponry while telling Israeli companies that they are a security risk when they want to buy a software company.
Yeah, I'd like to support the RNC, if it would ever becomes a Conservative Party again. Today, the RNC, the Republican Leadership, and even the President are doing the EXACT same things that the Democrats had done before the Reagan and Gingrich revolutions. Say anything, do anything, and give the house away to get a vote and stay in Washington.
As of tomorrow, I'll be heading down to the election commission and requesting that my official voter registration is changed to Libertarian, and until I see the conservative values that I and many like me hold dear, they will receive both my vote and my monetary support. In elections where there is no Libertarian candidate, I'll plug my nose and vote Democrat. Yes, I know what's at stake, but I don't think that you folks at the RNC understand... We elected conservatives and we got power-hungry pseudo-progressives. If we're going to get liberals we might as well vote for 'em and hope that we can get in on the government hand-out bandwagon.
It's not enough to play the "War on Terror Card" or the "National Security Card." We WANT CONSERVATIVE GOVERNMENT! Not new entitlement programs, Budgets out of control, pork barrel projects out the caboose, and further use of the American System as the Welfare State of Mexico.
Thank you for your concerns and for the great strides forward for conservatism that were made in the 80s, the Mid 90's and early on in 2001. I only hope that you do wake up before it's too late and we once again enter into a dark age of the socialist/liberal agenda... But I can no longer support a party that does not support the ideas and values that I hold dear.
Thank you and have a nice day.
Mr. Scott Kozlowski, Libertarian.
Now the Good part. I'm asking EVERY single person who reads this letter to sit down for a few minutes and compose a similar letter. Write to the RNC and tell them exactly why it is that there are 20% of us out here who voted for George W. Bush and the Republican Majorities of 2000, 2002 and 2004 and ask them to wake up and smell the wrath of conservatism.
If you donate to the RNC, don't do it this year. If you vote in an area where you have a moderate Democrat (NEVER vote for a socialist/demo-commie) or an Independent or Libertarian candidate, for just one election, vote against the continued corruption of the Republican Party. Send some of these "RHINOs" home and put the fear of the people back into these politician's hearts.
There is a War going on in America today, and there is a lot at stake. We simply cannot support a party that is willing to sell out their conservative values to gain a few million votes from people who don't care enough about our country to learn to speak English or follow our laws.
I eagerly await Mrs. Gazdo's reply...
